Boss clearly has a guardian angel. Otherwise, how else would he have survived being shot in the face three times at point-blank rage?

Unfortunately, Boss ended up in the hands of an abuser who saw him as a nuisance and attempted to get rid of him using deadly force. The abuser presented Boss with the barrel of a gun and pulled the trigger three consecutive times, blasting Boss to the pavement with life-threatening injuries.

One of the bullets entered Boss’ skull through his right eye—leaving his right eye bulging, with SEVERE skull fractures. The second and third bullets entered Boss' jaw—shattering his teeth before becoming lodged in his gums. And as time went on, one of the bullets in his gums became infected—causing a soft-tissue bulge that resembled a cyst.

Boss was rushed to the animal hospital where he immediately underwent emergency surgery to remove his damaged eye. Unfortunately, the bullet had already damaged the eye socket so much that it had ulcerated and erupted, with the only option left being complete removal.

After recovering from the first surgery, Boss underwent a second surgery on his mouth and jaw where doctors removed two abscesses and several broken teeth AND discovered a third bullet.

Boss underwent a third surgery to remove the final bullet from his neck, which has given him better balance and he is even starting to trout around the yard. Unfortunately, he is also heartworm positive and has begun the slow-kill method of Advantage Multi, which is much less harsh on his body and will have the same outcome as the injections. We will retest in 8 months and hopefully, he will be heartworm negative.

This poor boy has lived through countless nightmares, but despite past experiences showing differently, we know Boss is deserving of a happy and healthy life. Despite his trauma, Boss is an absolute snuggle-bug, who loves nothing more than being spoiled.

Finally, after surviving multiple gunshot wounds to the face, Boss has been adopted into a loving family where he has puppy siblings and a human brother who he loves to snuggle with. Boss truly believes he is a lap dog.  He is still taking his heartworm medicine every day and continues routine checkups with the vet.

Of course, Boss's new life wouldn't have been possible without our generous supporters and awesome partners at CUDDLY who helped share Boss's remarkable story and made his lifesaving surgeries possible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking a chance on Boss and giving him the life he deserves!
